Where there is no vision, the people perish and I take this to mean that whatever we do day to day, it’s important to keep our vision always front and center.

When we don’t we get lost quite quickly, caught up in the numerous problems, issues, and challenges that is our daily life.

Where There Is No Vision…

So this week as I struggled, I was reminded to remember my why. Why did I decide to create an online business? My vision was a well-being and educational retreat to be based in the hometown of my mother’s birthplace.

Then as time went by, I thought why wait for that physical space, why not begin to create that well-being space online?

What Gets In The Way Of The Vision

Ok, I’m reminded of the vision, what is the next step?

I go back and review Dean’s New Beginners Training, Module 2.  In it he says,

“To Achieve Success, You Must Become A Person Capable of It”

The next step then is the change you need to make to become the person you need to be to live the vision.

This is all about transformation though I don’t think he ever uses that word, instead, he talks about facing your fear and finding alternative ways to look at fear. Because he says, ‘You are the biggest threat to your success’.

According to Zig Ziglar, a famous motivational speaker, F.E.A.R. has two meanings:

Prepare Yourself For Your Vision

Of course, it depends upon the issue you’re dealing with as sometimes it may be better to run away from danger to save yourself, and there is nothing wrong with that. Still, this is often a reminder that there is always more than one way to view a situation and that you always have a choice. This is important to remember.  Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise.  The Choice is Yours!

This brings me to the book, Atomic Habits, which Dean recommends in the module and he shares a short video clip of the writer, James Clear. I must admit to not being blown away at first when I watched it but now reading the book and having had time to reflect, I am beginning to work it out.

Focus On the Person You Want to Become

In the clip, James Clear talks about the importance of making your bed each morning and as I already do that – it did not mean much!

But it’s part of the journey, your physical space affects your ability so making your bed is clearing your environment, so what else can you do to clear your environment?

And as it is at the start of your day, it is also a reminder to continue the day doing the little things that you can do each day that compound at the end of the day, in a month, in a year to grow the type of person you wish to become, to be the best version of yourself.

What are the little things you can do each day?

James Clear offers a weekly free newsletter that covers tips for building good habits.

Lesson Learned

So fear got in the way, and somehow I got back on track.  I know it will happen again and again. This post is as much for me as it is for you. I am still working things through but I am feeling stronger.

Where There Is No Vision…

I am learning that it’s the little things you do each day that will change you into the person who can become the vision, your vision.

All that you touch, You Change. All that you Change, Changes you. The only lasting truth Is Change.

  1. Hi Eleanor,
This is why I love this community: you reminded me of so many important things that, once in a while, we all need to be reminded of.
I love Zig Ziglar and you reminded me of such an important quote that definitely falls into what we’re going through with our businesses!
    Wishing you a fantastic September!

  2. Eleanor, your post so resonates with me. There are some days I really struggle with my vision and purpose for why I am doing this. I sometimes feel like I am walking through 3 feet of snow, and it just doesn’t feel like I am moving forward. Then I get tired, can’t move, and have to rest. But I know I can’t stay in one place. Logically, you move forward one step at a time. You can see the finish line in your mind’s eye. You know it’s there. This is why so few people fail at internet marketing. The internal power to push through these obstacles must have a strong base and an outlet for emotional support to talk you through those challenging courses. Without knowledge and support, life feels overwhelming, and the hurdles to jump are so high. It’s easy to give up and say, “I can’t do it. It’s too hard.” This is why your purpose is so important. How badly do you want to make your purpose a reality? I must constantly re-visit my why to reinforce the drive I initially felt when I started. Is it taking me longer than I wanted? Yes. Do I still get in my own way? Yes. But it’s okay. I’m learning from my mistakes and catching myself sooner than before. I can turn my focus back on the path to success quicker and easier than before. I have 20+ years of bad habits to break, and I know that breaking all of those habits won’t take nearly as long.

  3. Eleanor your post is packed with true wisdom! In your statement “to achieve success, we must become a person capable of it” goes hand in hand with your statement about always having a choice. I really enjoyed your comment “We’re never stuck, though sometimes, it can feel that way. Face Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. The Choice is yours!” Here’s to Keeping the Vision in Focus & Facing Everything And Rising to new Heights!

  4. Hi Eleanor – I think I get in my own way when it comes to vision. When I am focused and have a vision sometimes I am fearful as we learned that I might succeed, or I might fail. Either can be unhealthy if I let it dominate my thoughts. I believe I do have a vision and now I just need to make it happen by practicing patience and believe it in myself. This is a very good post and a very good reminder that vision is important! Have a great week!

  5. Hi Eleanor! I love that second definition of fear: Face Everything and Rise! You are right. If I don’t have a vision for the week or even my day, I fizzle, and time wastes away. It’s important to plan the day with the big vision in mind. I have been very timid lately, so I really appreciate the Zig Ziegler quote. Face everything and rise—I can do that. Here’s to a brave new week ahead!

  6. I recently did an interview with a man who had just published a book about walking. I made a comment about walking the Camino and he said, his walking focus is all about walking exactly where you happen to be.

This is where we are. We don’t have to go or be anywhere else to find who we really are.

  7. Hi Eleanor,

This post is truly inspiring and filled with wisdom. Your reflection on the importance of maintaining a clear vision and staying connected to your “why” is so important and I can relate. It’s so easy to get caught up in daily challenges and lose sight of the bigger picture, but your reminder to realign with your vision is powerful.

The way you’ve connected the need for personal transformation with achieving success is insightful. Dean’s emphasis on becoming the person capable of living the vision, and your reference to Zig Ziglar’s take on fear, highlights how much our mindset and daily habits impact our journey.

I also appreciate your mention of Atomic Habits and the importance of small, consistent actions. It’s often the trivial things, like making your bed each morning, which sets the tone for the day and gradually shapes us into the person we aspire to be. I need to get better at that…

Thank you for sharing your journey and the lessons learned. Your honesty about struggling but finding your way back on track is so encouraging. Keep going, your vision is unfolding with every step you take!

  8. Your reflection on the power of vision and daily habits resonates deeply, Eleanor. It’s inspiring to see how you’ve realigned with your initial vision for creating a well-being and educational retreat, even finding ways to manifest it online. The emphasis on becoming the person capable of achieving your vision is crucial, and your insights into overcoming fear and focusing on incremental changes are invaluable. The idea that small daily actions, like making your bed, contribute to broader personal growth reinforces the importance of consistency. By continuously adapting and reinforcing your vision, you’re not only paving the way for future success but also embodying the transformative journey it requires. Keep nurturing those small, impactful habits—they truly shape the path to achieving your dreams.
