I am in the flow with the Beginners Advantage training and have completed Module 5. If you recall from last week, Module 4 was on choosing your niche.
Module 5 is all about getting in front of ‘Traffic’, that is getting people to know you by posting consistently and building an audience that likes your content.
Market Research
The homework for this module is to decide on a primary social media platform and study videos in your chosen niche. I will follow at least 20-30 accounts and then choose my top 3.
Getting in the Flow with TikTok as a primary social media platform is recommended and the market research shows that the well-being niche is popular.
Wellness vs Well-being
The ‘wellness’ term is more popular on YouTube than ‘well-being’ but have been advised not to be concerned about that difference as they both do well.
Video is the number one way that people are consuming content.
TikTok’s Demographics changing
TikTok was initially teenagers dancing but not anymore. The 40-49 is quickly matching the 30-39 to over 20%.
TikTok launched in 2016 and is said to be like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube combined! So its advised to get in the Flow with TikTok.
There may be challenges ahead with TikTok and the possibility of losing followers if banned in the US.
In business, there are ever-changing trends to be aware of and to pivot when necessary.
Ways to Make Social Media Posts Engaging
There are other ways to share content, if video is not for you. Below are some tips I am learning that create engagement.
1. Use great visuals. The visual content is what will stop people from scrolling and check out your posts. If you don’t have an image directly related to your business, use stock imagery from a free site like Pixabay or Unsplash.
2. Write good copy. While the picture gets them to stop, the words get them to click. Use appropriate punctuation with adequate spacing.
3. Don’t promote your business and products directly every time. Post about topics in your industry, or repost items from other people to build credibility and engagement with a wider audience.
4. Use hashtags. For the majority of social media sites, your post might be invisible if you’re not using hashtags. Hashtags tell people what category your post falls into, and draw in more engagement from people checking out what’s new in that topic.
5. Be brief. Try to keep sentences short.
6. Post at key times. This varies across social media platforms. Do a quick Google search to see what days and times are best for the platform you’re using.
7. Involve the readers. Put engaging questions into your post that will elicit discussion and response. If people are building on the thread below your words, you know your post has been a success.
8. Be persistent. In today’s socially connected world, it’s not overkill to post, post, and post again.
9. Remember the audience. Different social media platforms are geared towards different users.
10. Treat Yourself. It’s important that when you hit a milestone, you do something nice for yourself.
It’s an opportunity to be mindful of your well-being.

Hi Eleanor, thank you for all you good tips. I use social media, especially TikTok and Quora. This way I have a mix of written and video content. TikTok is faster to grow your followers however there a lot of competition and it’s not easy to be seen by the right persons, the view advantage being given to bigger accounts. In Quora, followers are slow to come but have better quality in my opinion. Because you answer to people that ask you a question you are almost in contact with people that have a problem to solved. Nevertheless consistency is key and you have well raised this fact in your post.

Hi Eleanor,
Great post and definitely a must read for anyone wanting to go on Tik Tok as a source of engagement with possible subscribers!
It’s so easy to get lost in all these Social Media opportunities; making sure that you stick to one and then get better at it is definitely the road to go on!
Thanks for providing a concise and clear description for Tik Tok videos; it helped me better understand where I have to get better at them.
All the best!
Eleanor thanks for sharing your post! What is your TT address? I will follow you. I was really surprised with the stats you gave as to the demographic makeup of TT. At first glance the 50+ group looks to be kinda small, but when you put it in the prospective of total daily users the numbers end up being in the millions! That’s Amazing! It can really be a good opportunity!
Eleanor,
Your enthusiasm is catching! It’s fantastic to read each week of your progress.
TikTok is an exciting place to grow a well-being platform. I think people will resonate with your personality and sincerity.

There is some great advice in here that would benefit any one new to affiliate marketing. At my age I was wondering if TikTok was the right choice for my primary platform but seeing the chart you posted about the demographic numbers has reassured me that my choice is not a bad one.
